A MESSAGE FROM FR. STEFAN - JULY 14, 2023

Dear St. Martin of Tours Family,

This is Fr. Stefan Yap; it was a joy to greet many of you last Sunday during my first weekend at St. Martin of Tours. I look forward to getting to know you and serve you as your priest at St. Martin’s.

A little bit about myself, I have been a priest for 3 years and was assigned at St. John Neumann’s in Gaithersburg for 3 years before coming here. I come from a Filipino family and have 2 siblings, an older brother, and a younger sister. I was born in New York and grew up in New Jersey. I moved to Maryland to attend the University of Maryland College Park and graduated with a degree in Mathematics. After graduating college, I entered seminary for the Archdiocese of Washington and went to JPII Seminary to study at Catholic University and then went to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary before being ordained a priest on June 20, 2020.

Some of my favorite saints are St. Agnes, St. Peter, St. Augustine, and Padre Pio. What I’m most excited about being at St. Martin’s is just serving you. Celebrating Mass and hearing confessions, helping with the school and religious education, helping with the youth group, meeting the various groups, and helping you encounter Christ.

Please pray for me as I continue to adjust to St. Martin’s and know of my prayers for all of you.
