Food donations received last week again exceeded outgoing food – Thank you! Our food reserves, while the best since December, remain low when compared to client numbers now averaging less than three families per week under this same time in 2021, which was our 30-year record. Shortages for next week’s distribution are even less than last week: (1) pasta sauce (estimated six cans/bottles short). Canned fruit we estimate we have just enough for next week. Additional shortages for the 6 March distribution: the above plus (3) “meals in a can” (stew, canned pasta, chili, etc.), and (4) pasta. We believe we have just enough dry, unsweetened cereal for 6 March. Shortages for 13 March: all of the above, plus (6) canned vegetables, (7) dry rice/beans, and (8) canned beans (black/kidney/red/etc.). We have canned soup sufficient for next week, but then project halved distribution for the following two weeks. There should be sufficient canned tuna/meat/fish and mac & cheese for four weeks.
We also need: Similac Blue and Similac Orange baby formula, and/or domestic or foreign equivalents/substitutes, baby food numbers 1 and 2, Pediasure, and diapers sizes 5 and 6. Also needed are Ensure, plus adult unisex pull-ups sizes small, medium and large. Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed.
Over the week ending with the 20 February distribution, we received approximately 3.20 tons of non-perishable food, and gave out some 2.64 tons of non-perishable food and slightly less perishable food to 271 families. Many thanks to everyone who can help us help those in need!
