Over the week ending with the 30 October distribution, we received approximately 3.44 tons of non-perishable food donations, and gave out some 3.75 tons of non-perishable food and perhaps as much perishable food to 385 families. In October 2023, an average of 367 families came to us for food each week, more than any previous month.
Estimated shortages (projecting 360 families per week) for the next two distributions: (1) canned soup (short c.880 cans), (2) oatmeal/cereal (short c.702 units), (3) dry rice/beans (short c.577 pounds), (4) pasta sauce (short approx. 552 bottles/ cans), (5) canned vegetables (sort c.550 cans), (6) pasta (short approx. 525 boxes), (7) canned fruit (short approx. 488 cans), (8) “meals in a can” (stew, canned pasta, chili, etc. -- short c.488 cans), (9) canned beans (short c.373 cans), (10) tuna/canned meat/canned fish (short c.400 cans), (11) mac & cheese (short approx. 240 boxes).
We also need: Similac Blue and Similac Orange baby formula, and/or domestic or foreign equivalents/substitutes, diapers numbers 3, 4 and 6, baby wipes, and Pediasure, as well as Ensure for adults.
Paper grocery bags (Wegmans or Trader Joe size) are in serious shortage. Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed. May God bless you for whatever help you can provide!
