Dear St. Martin Parishioners,

Last week we celebrated a beautiful “Marian week,” beginning with the Solemnity of the

Immaculate Conception and concluding with Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday. We squeezed a lot into last week, and it was great to see so many of you who took advantage of the various opportunities for spiritual growth and to prepare for Christmas.

Sr. Providencia renewed her temporary vows on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. We

are blessed by her gentle, Marian presence and service within the parish. Thursday and Friday we gathered for our annual Advent mission, led by Frs. Roberto Amoruso and Tommaso Badiani. On Saturday morning, about 150 of our parishioners attended the annual Walk with Mary in Washington, DC. This usually joyous and boisterous occasion was more solemn this year, as we remembered all those whom we have lost to COVID, and prayed for justice for our immigrant community. On Saturday night, the church was full for our festive Mass celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On Tuesday, December 14 we begin our nine-day Christmas novena, Las Posadas. Every night at 7:00pm we’ll host an event at the parish with prayer, lively music and delicious food as we spiritually accompany Mary and Joseph in their journey to Bethlehem. The novena concludes on Wednesday, December 22nd with a “Walking to Bethlehem” event on Fr. Meyer Field from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Don’t miss this beautiful “living stations” depicting the birth of Jesus. That evening, Fr. Kiko’s spectacular Nativity scene will be unveiled as well.

I look forward to seeing you here as we make our final preparation for Christmas!

In Christ,

Fr. Dave.
