FOOD PANTRY REPORT AND SHORTAGES AS OF JANUARY 30

Better weather, probably combined with the end of the very busy food distribution at soon-to-close Lakeforest Mall brought us many more families in need this past week, but again generous donors provided somewhat more food than we gave out. But we expect more of those in need will be here next week – they need your help!

Shortages for next week’s distribution: (1) dry, unsweetened cereal (estimated 120 boxes short), (2) pasta (estimated 36 boxes short), (3) pasta sauce (estimated 36 cans/bottles short), and (4) canned fruit (estimated 25 cans short). Additional shortage for the 13 February distribution: all of the above plus (5) canned beans (black/kidney/red/etc.), (6) dry rice/beans, (7) “meals in a can” (stew, canned pasta, chili, etc.), (8) mac and cheese, and (9) canned soup (we continue to halve distribution due to insufficient supply since late December). There is sufficient canned tuna/meat/fish for three weeks. All else is short for 20 February.

We also need: Similac Blue and Similac Orange baby formula, and/or domestic or foreign equivalents/substitutes and diapers size 5. Also needed are Ensure for adults, and adult unisex pullups sizes small, medium and large. Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed.

Over the week ending with the 30 January distribution, we received approximately 3.36 tons of non-perishable food, and gave out some 3.04 tons of non-perishable food and approximately the same amount of perishable food to 312 families.

Many thanks to everyone who can help us help those in need!
