FOOD PANTRY REPORT/SHORTAGES FOR AUGUST 28

The number of families coming to us for food continues to set new records. This week was our new second-highest non-holiday food distribution – passing four weeks ago by 16 families. Over the week ending with the 28 August distribution, we received approximately 2.55 tons of non-perishable food, and gave out some 3.26 tons of non-perishable food and perhaps as much perishable food to 335 families.

Estimated shortages for the next two distributions: (1) canned soup (short c.477 cans), (2) pasta sauce (short approx. 296 bottles/cans), (3) oatmeal/cereal (short c.296 units), (4) canned fruit (short approx. 279 cans), (5) canned beans (short c.183 cans), (6) “meals in a can” (stew, canned pasta, chili, etc. -- short c.179 cans), (7) pasta (short approx. 160 boxes), (8) canned vegetables (sort c.147 cans), (9) mac and cheese (short approx.140 boxes ), and (10) dry rice/beans (short c.13 pounds).

We also need: Similac Blue and Similac Orange baby formula, and/or domestic or foreign equivalents/substitutes, diapers sizes 4 and 5, baby wipes, and Pediasure. In addition we need Ensure, and adult pull-ups sizes medium, large and extra-large. Paper grocery bags (Walmart or Trader Joe size), plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed. If the shortfall in donations this past week does not make it clear, we need your help in order to help those in need!
