IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM FR. DAVID WELLS

Dear St. Martin’s Parishioners,

A very dismaying event occurred this past Sunday evening, as someone broke into the church

and stole our safe with the offertory collection. Although the church was locked, the thief was able to enter by force through a few different doors. If you wrote a check that was placed in the offertory collection at one of the Masses this past weekend (November 20-21), please cancel that check.

The church has been burglarized on each of the past two weekends. As far as I know, there is no connection between the two events. On the first occasion, a new altar crucifix was taken from the altar. I am consoled by the fact that no one was harmed from our parish in these two events, and that there was no desecration of the church.

We are blessed that insurance will cover the cost of the various repairs and replacement items, as well as the approximate value of the offertory monies that were stolen.

I will be closely examining our security measures to ensure that we are doing everything we can to protect the parish’s goods, especially those goods that parishioners entrust to our stewardship.

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Dave
