PANTRY REPORT/ SHORTAGES AS OF MAY 30

Shortages in sorted food, in order of need, are: (1) “meals in a can” (canned stew, canned pasta, chili, etc), (2) canned soup, (3) dry unsweetened cereal, (4) canned fruit, (5) pasta, (6) pasta sauce, and (7) “add-ins” (cookies, crackers, common condiments, etc.).

In addition, we need: baby formula equivalents/substitutes for US-produced Similac Blue and Similac Orange (Sensitive). (Special thanks to those who are locating and donating newlyimported formula!) We also need diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6, baby wipes, and Pediasure, as well as Ensure for adults, and adult unisex pullups sizes small, medium, and large.

Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed. Paper grocery bags are also needed.

NOT needed at this time: canned vegetables (we still have enough for well over eight weeks).

Over the week ending 30 May, we received approximately 0.74 tons of non-perishable food. With this and current reserves we expect to cover the 6 June distribution, with the projected shortages for the 13 and 20 June distributions. (Baby formula and other items mentioned afterwards are short for next week.)

We gave out approximately 1.75 tons of non-perishable food, and somewhat more perishable food (bread and pastries, fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. – primarily donated by local stores) to 180 families in the week ending on Monday, 30 May. Special thanks go to all those helping us to help our neighbors in need!
