Shortages in order of need: (1) pasta sauce, (2) canned soup, (3) “meals in a can”: (stew/canned pasta/chili/etc.), and (4) dry unsweetened cereal.
Also needed: Similac Blue, diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6, and baby wipes. Also Pediasure and Ensure for adults.
Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed. Paper grocery bags are also needed.
NOT needed at this time: tuna/canned meat/canned fish, (at current projected client numbers we have almost 12 weeks supply on hand, or canned vegetables (currently over 9 weeks supply on hand).
We received approximately 0.88 tons of non-perishable food over the week up until 10 January. With this and current reserves we expect to cover the January 24 and 31 projected distributions, with the above projected shortages for February 7 distribution.
We gave out just under one ton of non-perishable food, and somewhat more perishable food (bread and pastries, fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. – primarily donated by local stores) to 100 families in the week ending with snow, freezing rain and wind Monday, 10 January. Special thanks to the volunteers who made it in to the Pantry, and to all those helping us to help our neighbors in need!
