ST. MARTIN’S FOOD PANTRY REPORT NOVEMBER 1, 2021

Shortages in order of need: (1) canned soup, (2) pasta sauce, (3) “meals in a can”: (stew/canned pasta/chili/etc.), (4) dry unsweetened cereal, and (5) pasta.

Also needed: Similac Blue, diapers sizes 3, 5 and 6, Pediasure, baby wipes, and Ensure for adults. Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed.

NOT needed at this time: mac & cheese or tuna/ canned meat/canned fish (at current projected client numbers we have over 8 weeks supply on hand), paper bags, or egg cartons.

We received approximately 1.35 tons of food over this past week. With this and current reserves we can cover this coming Monday’s estimated needs, with canned soup and pasta sauce insufficient for the following Monday, and the above-noted further shortages beyond that. (Our overall food reserves are at their lowest level of the last twelve weeks.) Thanks to all who help us meet our neighbors’ needs!

This past week we gave out some 1.82 tons of nonperishable food, and a rather larger amount of perishable food (bread and pastries, fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. – primarily donated by local stores) to 187 families in the week ending Monday, November 1. We encourage volunteers, including student volunteers, who are essential to help sort, store and distribute all this food!
