ST. MARTIN’S FOOD PANTRY REPORT NOVEMBER 8

Shortages in order of need: (1) pasta sauce, (2) canned soup, (3) dry unsweetened cereal, (4) “meals in a can”: (stew/canned pasta/chili/etc.), (5) canned beans, and (6) pasta.

Also needed: Similac Blue, diapers sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6, Pediasure, baby wipes, and Ensure for adults.

Plastic newspaper bags and plastic grocery bags are always needed. Egg cartons, especially plastic, are needed again.

NOT needed at this time: mac & cheese or tuna/canned meat/ canned fish (at current projected client numbers we have over 7 weeks supply on hand), or paper bags.

We received approximately 2.11 tons of food over this past week. With this and current reserves we can cover this coming Monday’s estimated needs, however with pasta sauce well short of the quantity needed, and canned soup also insufficient for the Monday before Thanksgiving, and the above-noted further shortages beyond that. (With the larger than anticipated number of clients, our overall food reserves dropped again.) Thanks to all who can help us meet our neighbors’ needs!

This past week we gave out some 2.12 tons of non-perishable food, and about the same amount of perishable food (bread and pastries, fresh vegetables and fruit, etc. – primarily donated by local stores) to 218 families in the week ending Monday, 8 November.

We encourage volunteers, including student volunteers, who are essential to help sort, store and distribute all this food!
