Letter for Religious Education Parents
March 26, 2020
Dear Religious Education Parents:
The past few weeks have definitely been challenging and uncertain. It is easy to wonder during difficult times, “Where is God?” The truth is,
that God is with us in these moments of trial and uncertainty, just as He is with us in moments of joy. God is with us always. I encourage
you to take a moment to pray to your loving Father when you are feeling stressed, uncertain, nervous or scared. He is always available to
listen, guide and comfort us.
In light of the MCPS announcement that public schools will be closed thru April 24th I wanted to inform you that Religious Education classes will also be suspended. Assuming MCPS opens school on April 27th, we will resume classes on April 28th.
Many of you might be wondering how your children will continue with their religious education – especially those who will be receiving sacraments this year. First, we will be working with catechists on ways to continue religious education in the coming weeks. Please expect your children’s catechist to be in contact with you in the next few weeks to give you instructions. We hope that ALL students will participate,
especially those who are preparing to receive a Sacrament in the upcoming weeks. Second, the Office of Faith Formation will be in
contact via flocknote with links to resources that will enrich your faith life. Finally, the parish as a whole is working on innovative ways to
bring the Mass, Confession and Adoration to you.
If your child was due to receive a Sacrament this year, we know that you have many questions and concerns. We are awaiting word
from the Archdiocese of Washington for more information on how to proceed. We anticipate that your child will receive the sacraments he or
she was preparing for – the question is – when? Rest assured, as soon as we have concrete information, we will communicate with you
Please know that all the families in the Religious Education program are in my prayers. We are looking for the best way possible to
accompany you in the faith in these moments of uncertainty.
