In the spirit of St. Martin of Tours, who gave half of his cloak to a beggar shivering in the cold, we would like to invite you to participate in "A Charitable Advent". The focus of "A Charitable Advent" will be to pray and offer sacrificial giving for those in our parish community whose spouse/parent have been detained for immigration matters. Our priests and sisters provide spiritual support and guidance to these parishioners, but there are also the sudden legal fees, bills, and needs of their children. Throughout the season of Advent we will offer daily prayers for those affected by these situations. We also ask that you save money you would like to spend on a coffee, snacks, or anything else you can give up, to instead donate to this cause. Create a special envelope, small box, or Ziploc bag for your sacrificial giving that will remind you to give as much as you can. This is a wonderful opportunity for those with children to teach them about sacrificial giving. Please bring your donation to church the weekends in the Christmas season of December 27-28, and January 3-4. There will be a bin in front of the Virgin Mary at the left entrance to the church. Make sure to write "A Charitable Advent" on the outside of the envelope, small box, or Ziploc bag you use to turn in your monetary gift. If you would like to turn it in as a check, please make it out to St. Martin of Tours with "A Charitable Advent" written in the memo.
