Dear St. Martin’s Parishioners,

Praise God for the beautiful weather we had last Saturday that allowed over 200 of us to make the walking pilgrimage in this Jubilee Year of Hope to St. John Neumann Parish. It was awesome to process down Montgomery Village Ave. praying the rosary as passengers in cars waved in recognition. On Sunday we celebrated our illustrious patron, St. Martin, at all the Masses, culminating in our trilingual Mass and artistic presentation of his life in the gym. It was truly a grace filled weekend. I want to especially thank our Artistic Ministry for their work in dramatizing the life of St. Martin, our Parish Activities Committee, and all those who donated the food and drink for over 200 people!

As we approach Giving Tuesday in a few weeks, please remember our parish. This year I would like the monies we raise to help in the decoration of the parish hall with religious imagery, as well as the refurbishing of the two houses on Summit Ave. The houses are in need of new furniture and religious imagery for the different groups that regularly meet there.

A few members of our parish family have recently been deported. Others are currently detained and are going through a legal process to try to remain with their families. To help support these families that are carrying heavy burdens, I propose that we pray and sacrifice for them during Advent. I will have more details about this effort in due time, but try to sacrifice as a family to raise some money for their needs. We will offer a prayer for each week of Advent that touches on the situations that many families are experiencing.

Lastly, mark your calendars for our parish mission, led by Fr. Anthony Stoeppel, a priest of Tyler Texas, who currently teaches at Catholic University in Washington, DC. This will be a bilingual mission on the evenings of Monday, December 1 and Tuesday, December 2.

In Christ,

Fr. Dave
