Dear St. Martin’s Family,
First, I would like to apologize to the parishioners at the 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 5:00pm, and 6:30pm Sunday Masses for not making this announcement to you in person..
It is with great sadness, but also with great anticipation, that I announce that Cardinal McElroy has given me a new parish assignment beginning this summer on July 9 . I have been assigned to be the parochial vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD. I will replace Fr. Christian Hubner who has been assigned to be the administrator of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Lexington Park, MD.
These last two years at St. Martin’s have been a blessing and I will miss everyone. Thank you for your prayers, your faith and love for Christ, and for your patience. I know my time at St. Martin’s has prepared me to serve the people of St. Michael’s. The priest moving to St. Martin’s will be Fr. James Fangmeyer. Fr. James is the nephew of Fr. Lee Fangmeyer from Mother Seton in Germantown and was ordained with Fr. Joe in 2024. Please pray and welcome Fr. James when he arrives and please pray for me and the people of St. Michael’s during this transition.
There is still plenty of time before the change, and I look forward to spending these last few weeks of St. Martin’s with all of you.
In Christ,
Fr. Stefan Yap
