Dear St. Martin’s Parishioners,

I would like to use this bulletin article to give an update on facilities and projects at St. Martin’s.

1. In the next month, I would like to have the parish hall kitchen renovation complete.

Although it won’t be used as a cooking kitchen, we have bought a commercial

refrigerator, microwave, freezer and warming oven. We need to remove the exhaust

hood over the commercial stove that is no longer there, and, after that is completed,

the kitchen will be ready to use for events.

2. This summer new outside doors will be installed around the whole school. This

extensive project which will cost around $100,000 is to replace the current doors,

which are rusted out in many places and do not provide the necessary security for the

school and parish.

3. The Guadalupe House (37 S Summit Ave.) is still in the process of being brought up to

code. Hopefully, in the next month our plans will be approved by the city, and we can

begin on the renovations that I estimate will cost between $70,000-$100,000.

4. The major project is the construction of a new pantry. I am working with contractors

and the city to build the new St. Martin’s Food Pantry on Fr. Meyer Field, near S.

Frederick Ave. After it is built—I estimate in the next 12 to 18 months—we will

demolish the current pantry. The space where the current pantry is will be converted

into additional parking, and the adoration chapel will be moved into what is currently

a storage garage connected to the parish offices. I am currently looking at making

additional parking available at 35 and 37 S. Summit Ave. This project should cost

around $1,000,000 based on current plans.

I would love for it to be the case that in two years time we have a new pantry, new adoration chapel and 40-50 additional parking spots (on and off campus) for Masses and parish activities. Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support as we embark on a large-scale project for the good of our parish!

In Christ,

Fr. Dave
